Biography
Owabelemam (Belema) is a lawyer and researcher whose work sits at the intersection of energy and environmental law. Her current research examines how national legal and regulatory frameworks shape global climate governance.
Belema’s research interests span climate policy, energy regulation, and climate-energy-environmental (CEE) justice. She is particularly interested in the connections between climate change, renewable energy, public health, water resources and food systems. Her research outputs consider how legal and policy frameworks can respond to these interconnected challenges while addressing inequality, protecting communities, and supporting sustainable development.
She is especially interested in approaches that are sensitive to local contexts and that recognise the priorities, knowledge and lived experiences of communities, particularly in the Global South.
