Biography
Lisa Mary studied Law at the University of Strathclyde, where she completed her LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice, before undertaking an LLM. She is currently completing a PhD in Criminology at the University of Glasgow, exploring the gendered harms of the remand process in Scotland. Lisa joined Aberdeen Law School as a Teaching Fellow following a range of teaching, research and legal policy roles across several UK universities and third-sector organisations.
Her research focuses on gender and crime, children's rights and social policy, with a particular interest in women and children's experiences of the criminal justice system, pre trial processes and restorative justice. Before entering academia, Lisa worked in advocacy and legal policy roles supporting children, young people, victims of crime and those affected by domestic abuse. These experiences continue to inform her teaching and research, particularly her commitment to socially engaged scholarship and the relationship between law, justice and social change.
