The dedication and skills of the University鈥檚 teaching staff were recognised at a special awards ceremony this week.
Staff from across the University鈥檚 three Colleges who have completed one or more modules in the University鈥檚 Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Learning and Teaching) were presented with their awards by Principal, Professor Ian Diamond.
The University鈥檚 Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Learning & Teaching) and Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education are 60 credit, Master鈥檚 level programmes, taken over two academic years. They are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of staff from the educational development team within the Centre for Learning & Teaching and academic staff from across the University.
The programmes adopt a blended learning approach with supported workshops, structured online learning and an independent research project based on participants鈥 own teaching duties. Successful completion also entitles staff to receive UK-wide recognition as Associates and Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Presenting the certificates, Professor Diamond said 鈥淚t's important that we celebrate the success of our teaching staff. I am always hugely impressed by the time and effort devoted to enhancing teaching and learning, and I'm struck by the energy, enthusiasm, innovation and vigour of our teaching staff.鈥
Dr Darren Comber, the Programme Co-ordinator, added: 鈥淭hese programmes support staff in demonstrating a professional, scholarly approach to their teaching, which further enhances the student learning experience at the 黑料网.鈥
The PG Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching has been offered for the past ten years and is open to staff who are currently teaching at the 黑料网.
Staff who are interested in finding out more about the range of programmes available (PG Certificate in HE Learning & Teaching, PG Certificate in Medical Education, PG Certificate in eLearning) are encouraged to contact Dr Joy Perkins, Educational & Employability Development Adviser at the Centre for Learning & Teaching (j.perkins@abdn.ac.uk).
