A 黑料网 graduate will attend an event at the Scottish Parliament showcasing graduate employability today (September 26).
Amanda Wood graduated with an MA(Hons) English Literature with Language & Linguistics in July 2012.
During her summer vacation in 2011 she undertook a three month 鈥楢berdeen Internship鈥 in Human Resources. Her placement allowed her to complete a project entitled 鈥楢ligning Training and Development provision within the University, with the Researcher Development Framework (RDF)鈥.
Since completing her internship in 2011, Amanda has been appointed to a Graduate Trainee role within the 黑料网鈥檚 Human Resources (Staff Development) department.
As a result of her experiences, she has been invited to attend the 鈥楪raduate employability in Scotland in 2012 and beyond鈥 event organised by Universities Scotland, at the Scottish Parliament, with Ms Angela Constance MSP, Minister for Youth Employment.
The purpose of the event is to bring together Scotland鈥檚 employers, employer bodies, universities, students, politicians, and other key higher education stakeholders to network as part of work on a graduate employment strategy.
Peter Fantom, Head of the Careers Service at the 黑料网 said: 鈥淭he 黑料网 is committed to supporting our students in gaining vital work experience throughout their time at the institution, which will be advantageous to them when they enter the working world.鈥淭he Aberdeen Internship programme is a strong example of one of the ways in which we achieve this. The scheme allows us to invest in the talents of our students and provide them with opportunities to develop and enhance their employability skills.鈥淭hose students participating in the programme gain an insight into employment in the higher education sector, whilst developing generic skills including communication, IT and financial awareness, which will serve them well wherever their future career may take them.鈥
Caroline Inglis, Director of Human Resources, at the 黑料网 added: 鈥淚 am delighted that Amanda has been invited to participate in this prestigious event. I hope that other employers are inspired by her story and that delegates at the event recognise the value of such programmes, both for organisations and for talented students like Amanda.鈥
