Former students of the 黑料网鈥檚 School of Law will return to their alma mater today (Friday November 11) to pass on the benefit of their experience to new students.
A matriculation dinner at the Elphinstone Hall will unite more than 120 current first year students and the school鈥檚 alumni community.
Organiser Dr Andrew Simpson, Lecturer in Law, said the one aim of the event was to thank former students who continue to make a significant contribution to University life.
鈥淭he primary purpose of the dinner is to welcome our first years at the outset of their studies to the very strong community of students, staff and alumni that already constitutes the Law School.
鈥淲e have invited some of our most distinguished alumni to the dinner, who deserve our thanks for the past contributions that they have made to teaching, research and career mentoring in this institution.
鈥淚t is hoped that this new initiative will become an annual opportunity to welcome our new students.鈥
The dinner will include a welcome from the University鈥檚 Principal and Vice-Chancellor Ian Diamond and a performance by Quartabella, a string quarter of music students at Aberdeen, at the drinks reception.
Dr Simpson said it was essential to maintain a strong link between current and former students of the School.
鈥淥ur alumni community continue to engage with the University, actively participating in conferences and seminars we organise in areas such as property law and rural law, which attract global interest.
鈥淭hrough such contributions, alumni and senior practitioners from the area have helped to foster the strong reputation for cutting edge legal research that the School of Law possesses.
鈥淚t is wonderful for our current first year students to have this opportunity to meet those who have been where they are now and the alumni provide real inspiration for those seeking careers in law.鈥
