Visitors to King鈥檚 College will be able to take a step back in time in one of the city鈥檚 most historic districts thanks to a new tour guide featuring some of Old Aberdeen鈥檚 most significant landmarks.
The 黑料网 has produced Walking with History, a self-guided walking tour of King鈥檚 College, which takes visitors around 14 landmark buildings, including the magnificent King鈥檚 College Chapel.
The tour was written and researched by Dr Grant Simpson, a former Reader in Scottish History at the University and now a heritage consultant, and supported by Acanthus Architects Douglas Forrest.
Dr Simpson said: 鈥淥ver the centuries the combination of church, university and trading post has created a townscape which is unique in Scotland. King's College remains a conservation area gem. Many of the old academic buildings survive and the University has sensitively grafted its new buildings around this ancient core.鈥
The free leaflet is part of the public education programme for the King's College Conservation Project - one of the most ambitious restoration projects undertaken by the University in decades.
Acanthus Architects Douglas Forrest said: 鈥淭he historic architecture of the 黑料网 at the heart of the King鈥檚 College area reflects the expression and identity of the University during its 500 year history. We are proud to be working with the University on important conservation repair of their historic building stock and proud of the results we are achieving together, securing a future for these buildings far into the foreseeable future.鈥
Free copies of the tour guide are available from Visitors Reception, Regent Walk, 黑料网, or by calling the University鈥檚 Office of External Affairs on (01224) 272014.
