The induction was useful. All of the healthcare team were usually very welcoming too.
Majority of wards was welcomed and introduced to the team and given an introduction to how things worked. Felt I could ask for help if I needed it.
the staff in the hospital were incredibly welcoming and helpful

Sometimes need to ask clinicians if there is anyone can see because they arent going to offer one up without you asking, which is fine
I had adequate time with patients, with the opportunity to practice clerking in, examining and taking histories. Whilst also practicing practical procedures with supervision.
I got to see a large variety of patients and conditions, I especially liked how the specialties rotated each week in Inverness

As this block contains different specialties, please make it clear in your comments which specialty you are referring to. Please note any particularly good educational experiences and state why:

The nursing clinical team at UHI are great, sim sessions very helpful
I really enjoyed my time in endoscopy with GI, the team were very welcoming and were very good at teaching. I enjoyed all of the times I was in clinic, particularly with the renal team and respiratory team. I found my AMU shifts also very educational too, the weekend one in particular was really good as the place was not as busy with other students.
the time on the sim ward and the formative osce were especially useful

Please suggest any improvements to this educational experience.

It would be useful if Gastro scheduled more time in to clinics on our timetable, as I found this difficult to organise on my own accord. Perhaps with the OSCE feedback it may be more useful to get immediate feedback or get an opportunity to read the sheets, as this will highlight directly what marks you missed out on. But overall the OSCE was really useful to see how you got on and what parts might need more practice.
I understand timetabling is very difficult but would prefer tutorials to be blocked together eg. one afternoon per week. Rather than spaced out as it meant I was consistently leaving the ward and missing other opportunities. Felt hard to jump in and out.
Renal/ID week felt very full and back and forth as I could have ID clinic/meeting followed by renal in the same day. Perhaps in future have dedicated ID or renal days would help. Alternatively, perhaps spreading experience of one of these specialties across the block would help make it feel less hectic.
A more structured timetable would make more opportunities to spend time on the ward
I found the renal and infectious diseases week to be the worst as I had no time on the renal ward and the only renal experience I got was in clinics which despite being timetabled to attend these clinics I was often sent away as there was already a scotgem student there and they took priority.

Alex Grewcock - Respiratory team I have nominated him as he was always very welcoming, took time with me to talk about cases, whilst also allowing lots of opportunities for practical skills practice without feeling like you are wasting their time. Overall he made me feel very welcome and I looked forward to placement with him.
Alex Grewcock IMT in 7A, was very welcoming and supportive of our learning and good at giving us teaching opportunities and supporting our learning and practical abilities Craig Wallace - Senoir Staff Nurse in GA - excellent at teaching with very good patience for improving our ability to carry out practical procedures
Alexander Grewcock IMT on the respiratory ward in Raigmore was great at including students in activities, helped me get a lot of things signed off and provided excellent teaching.
