That uncomfortable middle ground is precisely where academia has the strongest advantage. Researchers can take the intellectual and technical risks that industry, constrained by customers, cost and delivery timescales, often cannot. Dr. Scott Doyle will explore how researchers can best use that freedom to connect with industrial partners, find good problems, and uncover translational opportunities for their work. By knowing how best to position yourselves, academics can achieve recurring routes to funding, deliver real impact, develop new technologies, and create employment opportunities.
