After successful award of her PhD, she moved to the Wolfson Unit for Peripheral Vascular Diseases, University of Edinburgh and worked as a senior research fellow for 9 years. In 2003, she joined the 黑料网 as medical statistician for the Department of Primary Care. She was made Reader in 2004 and attained Professor in 2006. Amanda held the post of Deputy Director of the IAHS between 2011-2018 and was then appointed Director IAHS between 2018-2023.
In terms of academic outputs, Amanda has published 336 papers in peer reviewed journals which have been cited more than 43,000 times and she has held research grants totalling over £11M. Amanda has been a champion for many with her extensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion activities: as IAHS EDI Lead; leading Athena SWAN applications; co-founding the Women’s Development Network and making a valued contribution to multiple University committees focussed around People, Wellbeing, Culture, Workload and Staff Development.
It was a great tribute that around 60 current and former colleagues joined us for coffee and cake today to thank Amanda and celebrate her many qualities and achievements. Amanda will be missed for her kindness and encouragement and for championing a positive, creative and collaborative environment for staff and students alike.
We wish Amanda a long and happy retirement.
